Amid the ongoing dangerous escalation and grave violations unfolding in Sudan, the Mashad Human Rights Observatory strongly condemns and denounces the deliberate bombing of El-Obeid Hospital by the Rapid Support Forces, which resulted in the killing of more than five civilians and left dozens of others injured, including medical personnel—some of whom are in critical condition.
The targeting of healthcare facilities, which are protected under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, constitutes a flagrant violation of all international norms and treaties. It is a full-fledged war crime and an act of terrorism that defies the most basic human and moral values. It reflects a shocking disregard for civilian lives and for the principle of medical neutrality enshrined in international law.
Mashad Observatory affirms that this crime is part of a broader pattern of deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, medical staff, and essential service providers—an alarming escalation in the systematic targeting of civilians that warrants urgent and resolute international response.
The Observatory calls on the United Nations, the African Union, and all relevant international and regional bodies to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by taking immediate and effective steps to protect civilians, halt these repeated atrocities, and hold perpetrators accountable to ensure they do not escape justice.
Mashad Observatory also appeals to all human rights organizations, civil society actors, and independent media outlets to shed light on this heinous crime and help expose the ongoing systematic violations being committed against the Sudanese people.
The silence of the international community in the face of these crimes amounts to implicit complicity and encourages the continuation of this cycle of killing, destruction, and impunity. Mashad Observatory reaffirms that holding the perpetrators of these violations accountable is not only a right for the victims but also a necessary step toward achieving justice and safeguarding human security and peace in Sudan and the wider region.
