Mashad Observatory strongly condemns the brutal attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which targeted a vehicle belonging to the World Food Programme in the locality of Al-Kuma. The vehicle was delivering humanitarian aid to innocent civilians in the city of El Fasher, who have been exhausted by the siege imposed on the city by these very forces.
The Observatory affirms that this blatant assault constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and of the conventions and norms that guarantee the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers. It is a fully-fledged war crime that requires urgent international intervention.
Mashad Observatory calls on the international community—foremost among them the United Nations, human rights bodies, and humanitarian organizations—to take immediate action to protect civilians and relief workers in El Fasher and across Sudan. The Observatory also urges concerted efforts to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable and to ensure that impunity is not tolerated.
