Mashad Observatory for Human Rights strongly condemns the continued prevention of civilians from leaving the city of El Fasher, as well as the repeated attacks and serious violations perpetrated against those fleeing toward the areas of Tawila and Mellit and other locations under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied groups. Verified field information confirms that the humanitarian situation facing these civilians has reached unimaginable levels, with widespread physical torture, ongoing abuses, systematic extortion, and targeted killings that threaten their lives and dignity.What is unfolding in El Fasher constitutes a deliberate and systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing aimed at subjugating civilians, forcing them to pay large sums of money to secure their release, and coercing them into expressing support for what is referred to as the “Government of Establishment.” These practices amount to crimes against humanity and demand urgent international action that goes beyond symbolic statements and routine condemnations on social media.Current estimates indicate that more than 160,000 civilians remain trapped inside El Fasher, prevented from leaving by RSF forces, while serious violations continue to be committed against them, alongside the obstruction of humanitarian agencies and the denial of essential life-saving assistance. The persistence of these conditions places tens of thousands of lives in immediate danger and demonstrates that patterns of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Darfur are recurring under deeply troubling international silence.Mashad Observatory urgently calls on the United Nations, the African Union, and all international and regional human rights bodies to take immediate and concrete measures to protect civilians in Darfur, halt the ongoing violations, secure safe humanitarian corridors, and hold those responsible for these grave crimes accountable. Such action is essential to safeguard civilian lives, prevent further deterioration, and uphold regional and international peace and security.
