Mashad Calls on the Human Rights Council at its 60th Session to Adopt Decisive Resolutions to End the Sudanese Tragedy and Restore Justice to the Victims
On the eve of the opening of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council, dedicated to the discussion of
the report of the Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan

Mashad Organization for Human Rights and Humanitarian Development addresses the Council’s members and all participants with a sincere appeal to approach the Sudanese crisis with historical responsibility and a genuine human conscience.

This must go beyond delays, empty statements, and perfunctory reports that have neither relieved the victims nor halted the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

The catastrophic ordeal facing the Sudanese people today—marked by killings, displacement, starvation, and systematic grave violations—requires the Council to move beyond non-binding recommendations and instead adopt decisive resolutions that restore dignity to the victims, ensure reparation, and put an end to the ongoing cycle of violence. At the same time, urgent measures must be taken to address the unprecedented levels of humanitarian suffering.

Mashad stresses that the persistence of impunity constitutes a direct threat to the international human rights system. The true credibility of the Council is measured not by the number of reports it produces, but by its ability to protect civilians and hold perpetrators accountable. Accordingly, Mashad calls for full recognition of the gravity of the crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—crimes that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity—and for the RSF to be treated as a terrorist entity that must be internationally isolated.

The organization further calls for accountability of all parties, states, and individuals who have provided the RSF with financial, political, military, or media support, urging their prosecution before international justice mechanisms, exposure before global public opinion, and the imposition of firm and transparent sanctions to deter all who contribute to or collude in the continuation of the war.

Mashad reiterates its appeal to the Human Rights Council and the international community to rise to the humanitarian and historical challenge imposed by the reality in Sudan, to return to the voice of human conscience and international legal frameworks, and to stand with the Sudanese people in their struggle for survival, freedom, justice, and human dignity. This moment represents a genuine test of the international community’s will and its capacity to side with the victims and embody the very values upon which the United Nations system was founded.
