Credible field reports indicate that over 3.8 million civilians are trapped in conflict zones, deprived of food, medicine, and drinking water, amid intensified shelling and systematic violations, including extrajudicial killings, rape, enforced disappearances, and ethnic cleansing. Hundreds of massacres and violations have been documented—some occurring in broad daylight and in full view of the world—without any effective international response.
What is happening in Darfur amounts to a crime against humanity and a stark failure to uphold international obligations under the Geneva Conventions, the Rome Statute, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The ongoing international silence can only be interpreted as negligence or complicity.
Mashad Observatory holds the international community—particularly the United Nations Security Council—morally and legally responsible for these grave violations, and calls for immediate and effective action to lift the siege on civilians and ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access to the affected areas.
